Muʻu + Moʻolelo
January 10 - 30, 2025
Inspired by the stories and the community involvement that came out of the last muʻu exhibit at Wailoa Center in 2022, this exhibit will shine the spotlight on all of you and your muʻumuʻu inspired stories.
Want to get involved? Scroll down for more information how you can be part of the muʻuvment!
There are two ways to participate:
1) Muʻu in the Wild (Current Photos):
-
Send us a photo of you and/or family and friends in muʻu. These photos can be ones you already have or a photograph staged just for this exhibit.
-
We will select 10-20 photos to print and display in the gallery. All others will be displayed digitally throughout the exhibit.
-
You may submit up to 5 images.
-
Have fun with the photos. Be creative on composition, setting, lighting, etc! And donʻt forget props!
-
Along with your photos, please answer the prompt: How does wearing muʻumuʻu inspire you?
2)Muʻu in the Gallery (Garments):
-
For those who would rather share the actual muʻumuʻu with the public you can share a favorite mu’u from your closet or your mother’s, aunties, tūtū’s etc.
-
Along with that muʻu, please share a short (a paragraph or two) about why this muʻu is special to you.
Muʻumuʻu, submitted photographs along with their corresponding stories will displayed January 10 - 30, 2025 in celebration of Mu’umu’u Month at Wailoa Center.
